DL650 real world fuel consumption
Hi guys,
Im looking at a DL650 here in Canada and was wondering what the real world (loaded) fuel consumption is. What are you guys getting ? Thanks in Advance Gipper |
When I get home in a few days I should be able to do the calcs on my spreadsheet for my CA carbon filter 07 model. This will include 53,000 miles of everything from USA, Alsaka, Central and Southern America with a full range of different fuel quality, riding style, conditions etc.
As a rough guess, on average I reckon about 43mpg, or in metric, probably around the 4.5l/100km Cheers TS |
4.5l/100km is more like 62 mpg (imperial, not US). 43 mpg (US) is about 51 mgp imperial.
Did you have much hassle with the Wee on your trip? I'm thinking of getting one so would be keen to hear about any weak spots, troubles and of course the actual mpg. Best, Sherlock |
4.5l is average for me, but in mpg it was less than 50mpg nowhere near 63 so I think your numbrs are off, or we are not comparing apples with apples, there is always some confusion between metric and imperial and US numbers so it can be read a number of ways. I have many conversions to do before I get the real figures.
The bike had no weakness, and I am not biased in that way either. Except for a clogged low pressure fuel filter, I never had any issues, once that was replaced it was fine. Bad fuel caused that and there were instances where fuel was put into the tank without filtering. Cheers TS |
Two months ago on my 2008 wee-Strom I did almost 14,000km with a pillion for half of it and full luggage (hard panniers and topbox), often cruising for hours at 120-130kph. I averaged almost exactly 5 litres / 100km.
The front sprocket is 16 teeth rather than the original 15, which may have made it slightly more economical. |
Strom mileage
Have had my DL650 for just over 2 years now,I seem to get 200-220 miles to a tank of fuel plus reserve,if I rag it on the back lanes solo this sometimes drops to 180 miles but 2 up with luggage it still is around the 200+ miles to a tank be it smaller roads or Autobahns, hope this helps.

Loaded up with panniers and top box i expect 20+km/ltr. Worst case scenario was a miserly 13km/ltr. That was in the USA cruising 150+kph. If you keep the revs under 6000 she is very economical. Best was a tad over 25km/ltr but that was at 3500m altitude.

so about 5L/100km, 20km/L, 56 mpg (Imp), 47 mpg (US) loaded with a steady throttle.
Thanks Guys |
