where to extend temporary import of bike in Senegal

Hi every one, I hope you guys can help me.
I just entered Senegal and was given a 48 hr import for my motorcycle. They told me at the border I could extend it in Dakar. Where should I go to extend it?
Thanks in advance,

Adrian.

You need to find General Direcion de Douane. There is three of them in that "nice" city and you need to find out wich one is proper. I was to deep into bustle and fighting with pesky helpers so I forgot to save gps-point. But all of three is not far from place de l'indepedence (main square of the city), you need the one which is next to assurance office, then 4th floor and approx. 15 minutes of waiting. It is for free so send off those who will ask to pay for anything. Usually douane people extend it fot 15 days but you can ask for more.

Good luck.

I will second this, it's what I did, one of the tall buildings off of one of the long sides of the plaza. You can do it twice, for a total of 30 days, but you have to go through the process both times.

However, I spent 9 months in Senegal and I renewed it only once. Obviously it's a small risk, but the police in Senegal almost never pulled me over and even less frequently asked for that document.

I will also second this :) Since I crossed the border fro Mauritania to Senegal nobody ever ask me for pasavant, even when I left and crossed border to Mali.

I went today. I'm not sure it was the right building because I was dragged around several buildings for hours before at the end I only got 7 more days. More was only possible for 50.000 cfa which I declined.
Cheers,
Adrian.

Hello Adrian,

did who enter with Carnet de Passage? And how many days you will get for 50.000CFA?

Regards

Mike

I do not have a carnet. The 50.000 would give me 30 day I guess but I feel there would be a lot of negotiating space. It would be pure bribery.

Cheers,
Adrian.
