where to ditch my bike after my trip in Western Africa

Hi guys, I don't feel like driving my cheap old bike back to Holland after my trip finishes. How do I get rid of it? The only place I can think of is in the no man's land between Western Sahara and Mauritania. Are there other solutions?
Cheers,
Adrian.

The point is that every time I enter a country I get a pass avant meaning I have to leave the country with the bike otherwise there will be problems at the border. I am looking for a solution for that so I can plan my trip.Off course I prefer giving it away to some one.
Cheers,
Adrian.

Why not have a look at the "shitty behavior abroad" thread and see if you still want to got this route?

Just sayin'.....

I think you misinterpreted my question. You probably have trouble with the word " ditch ".
I just wondered if it is possible to leave my bike some where and by ditching I meant to say that I don't need any money for it.

Hope that clarifies it.
Cheers,
Adrian.

Like you suggested, in a region where your vehicle is stamped into your passport, the best way to loose it is between borders. That is one reason you see so many shady characters in those spots.
One trip, checking out from Mauretania, the friendly customs man handed me my papers after stamping my passport and said: "Now, do you have a vehicle to sell?!"
There are workarounds so you can sell a vehicle anywhere, even in Morocco. But that means taking a risk and I suggest you don't.
I pm-ed you with a working solution that would keep you out of trouble.

We gave our car to "The Round Table" in Mali and it raised 1000 Euros for a local charity.
I was given a letter to say this had happened and at the Airport they accepted this and we flew home...Maybe contact a Local "Round Table???"

A few days ago I entered The Gambia and they did not put the bike in my passport so theoretically one could try to sell it here.
Cheers,
Adrian.

adrinalno:

out of interest, what did you eventually do?

(I ask not just out of idle curiosity but because i may be heading that way on an older bike too).

Feel free to send me a private message if you wish.
