A little heads up on Angolian 5days transit visa.

Got it in Matadi without any problems. You will need photocopies of all filled pages of passport, photocopy of vaccination card, photocopy of driving license and motorcycle (vehicle) papers. 101 dollars to pay in the bank (Rawbank, speaking english, quick and easy, possible to mix dollars and francs to pay). Issued on the next day.

Also I overstayed visa for 3 days (8 days total) - not a single question at the border of Namibia, nice. In case of backup you can ask for Stanislau from Amigos de Picada (it is angolian motoclub, supernice people), he works as customs officer at Santa Clara (usual border crossing point).

Also, if you cross from Matadi DON'T GO TO N'ZETA! It is obvious way to Luanda but after all it is even more challenging than going through Louzi between Congos. Go to M'Banza-Congo instead, they already finishing tarmac up to there.

That's all folks!

Hey Motolight, thanks for the information. I think I'll do the same thing, was that $101 USD? Also... did you get the vibe you could have overstayed longer without getting in the crap? ...Also, it looks like crossing at Matadi there is no road, do you go cross at Kozi? Or literally cross at Matadi? I am 2 up on a moto, not sure if that will F me in the A if I have to take no road

motolight 9 May 2016 22:08

Hey.

Yes, as I wrote it was 101USD for me. Also couple weeks later I met travelers which got same visa for same 101 bucks EACH person. Keep it in mind if you go 2 up.

There is border crossing Matadi - Noqui.

I was not planning to stay more than 5 days but kept in mind that few people here wrote that they overstayed for 1-2 days more and nobody cared upon their leaving. On my way I met guys from angolian motoclub Amigos de Picada (awesome incredible people!) and they gave me number of one of their member who works at border crossing Santa-Clara - Oshikango (main border crossing point on a way to Namibia) saying that any problem would be solved. But after all nobody told me anything and I was stamped out without any questions.

Awesome, thanks. Sorry to ask one more question. I've put together somewhat of a spreadsheet by countries in West Africa per expense. It looks like everything is incredibly expensive from the research I have done, including food... everything except gasoline. I have just been using averaged statistics from online cost of living sites. Could you give any info on Angola, if it truly is that expensive even for food...?
