Storing a bike in Mali

Unfortunately we have to interrupt our journey after Mauretania for a couple of weeks.
We have to fly home and continue later on.

Will the bike be marked in the passport? So will I get into trouble when flying out of the country?
Where could I possibly store the bike for a limited time?

Cheers,
Wauschi

Normally it will not be entered into the passport.

Some travellers store their vehicles at the Sleeping Camel in Bamako.
Last few years it has become a problem getting a room there, even with an advance reservation, because of rampant NGOs. Dunno if that is still the case.
They will however point you to residences nearby where you can stay, and should still be able to store your bike for a fee.

That's great information! Very promissing, thank you.
We're all set and ready to ride :thumbup1:

Hello,

You can try Auberge DJAMILLA aswell.
A german registered GS was there in temporary " storage " last year for a few months.
As stated already in priffe post your vehicule should not be on your passport.
You will have a Laissez-passer.
For my car, it was valid for 2 months ( border in southern Sénégal ) issued with no issues and at the official very reasonable price. ( 5 000 CFA if I am not wrong but I would have to double check )
The duration of the Laissez-passer can be extended in Bamako. It is easy aswell and I can elaborate if need arise.
Enjoy your trip.
