South Africa to Nairobi
 

I just finished my trip in Nairobi.
Here was my route: Lephalale, Gobler's Bridge, Francistown, Vic Falls, Lusaka, Mpika, Mbeya, Iringa, Dodoma, Arusha, Nairobi

Pretty straight forward
Border crossing from Botswana to Zambia, one hour, not too bad
Border crossing from Zambia to Tanzania: Big hassle, 2 hours
Border crossing from Tanzania to Kenya: Easy

Iringa to Dodoma: New tar road nearly finished
Dodoma to Arusha: Don't take the direct route (In a very bad condition), make the 140 Km détour via Singida

I was on a KTM 1190 Adventure R, the best bike for this trip

Too bad about the gravel between Dodoma and Iringa, it was a blast. But that's the inevitable fate of roads in Africa: 2 years of annoying roadwork, 1 year of excellent tar, then the potholes are coming and it's downhill from there...

But then I did it during the dry season, I can understand people are fed up of being stuck in seas of mud during the rains.

So what, finish in Nairobi ? Ethiopia rules... :thumbup1:
