Shipping tires to Togo

Hi,

Toni Togo is out of tires in rear 17". And I'd like to refresh my rear tire before continuing south.

Do you have any shop from Europe to recommend that would ship tires to Togo?
Or maybe know someone who could help with the shipping?

Thanks,
Patrick

One suggestion, you could also check shops in South Africa for tire shipping up to Togo. I needed tires in Congo and it was cheaper and faster to have them shipped up from South Africa vs. Europe.

But you'd think Toni Togo could order them for you to save your hassles? Hmmm... good luck!

hey, i got a pair of Mitas E-09's a year or two ago from the guy who owns hotel Napoleon Lagune in Lome. Just go and ask at the reception and they should be able to help. He was selling loads in all sizes.
Its between some water and some old train tracks i think (theres two hotel Napoleons)

Thanks Ride Far for your suggestions, I started contacting moto shops in South Africa. I have yet to find one willing to ship tires

Jjjjcccc your suggestion is very good too. But i already meet with the guys at Napoleon Lagune Hotel before writing the first post. They are out of stock for 17" rear tire.

I was progressing with a shop in Spain but now no more news. I lost a week.

A new option i saw is to use MyUS.com. They ship worldwide by DHL, fedex, ups but for a lower price than regular consumers. Don't know how reliable they are?
I'm talking with them now. They are saying they could ship a set of tires for about 215$US from the US. A service they offer is that you can shop from many shops in USA and they consolidate your purchases in one package and then they ship it to you.

I'm paying now in down time for the tire selection I made when I entered Africa: Mitas E-09 dakar rear and MT21 front. After 11500km and a lot of fun offroad on an overloaded DR650 with upgraded suspension, I'm very satisfied. Riding offroad in Morocco and both Guinea was a blast!

I could make it to Cameroun, but I don't like the idea of arriving there with a slick rear during the rainy season. And I still have the problem of finding tires...

Ha.. a first world problem!

Thanks Bertrand, i have sent you an email.

For some reason I did put too much hope at getting tires in Togo: My mistake. I should have shipped a set. Another mistake was to contact KTM Togo by email only in advance. It was not successfull. Please call them if you want an answer. They are very friendly in person.

Yes I'm paying for "having a blast offroad" but at the same time there are a few of those offroad riding days that are my best memories so far in the trip.

Another reason of using those tires was to have an extra margin to minimize crashing offroad. You only need one bad fall...

On the road, I have never travelled so slow 80 - 85km/h. I'm surprised of myself. The bike can handle easily 100 - 105km/h with the offroad gearing (15/46). But I'm enjoying looking around and also looking at oncoming cars and truck willing to go for head-on collisions
