Senegal visa for UK/EU citizens
 

The UK FCO website currently states that "As of 1 May 2015, you don’t need a visa to travel to Senegal."

My friends were told yesterday at the Senegal consulate in Freetown that this situation has changed and visas are required for EU citizens...

Just a word of warning to check this out before travelling.

If true, this is a bit of a concern as we have a group heading that way right now!

I've checked with all my usual contacts and not one of them has heard this. There's no mention of it any any Senegal government websites or media websites. Seems strange to reintroduce the visa and not make an announcement, especially when the government is doing all it can to bring back the tourists.

Even the visa website says nothing about it:

I wonder if the consulate meant for a business visa or a long stay visa?

I would appreciate hearing more from anybody else if they find out anything.

Came through a few weeks ago and no visa required...

As far as i know, no visa needed anymore. and that for the reason to attract more tourist. guess nobody liked the stupid idea with the biometric one.... I'm from Switzerland and we still need one, because we're not in the EU. So today i was in Geneva for that, took half an hour aaaand was for free... miracles happen :)
