selling a car in senegal

I have read on a Belgian site that it has become impossible to enter Senegal with a car older than 1 year.
Can anyone confirm this information?

We plan to drive to Mauri, Senegal, Gambia with a quite old car.

Some very experienced people told me you must have a carnet, some other very experienced people told me you can get a way with some pesos under the table.

Well , Its 5 years and older cars the ones which officially can not enter Senegal unless with a Carnet.

However .. People at the border are easily "bribeable/corruptible" for around 75-100 euros.


That means that you can bring your old car into Senegal . But still , YOU CAN NOT SELL IT ! - Indeed , no-one would buy it 'cos as Its older than 5 year old , Its also forbidden -for them - to buy it up.

So try Gambia instead , less hassle , and a much better chance to sell the car . Also , cheap flight connections back to EU.
