Refused Angola Visa in Abuja
Hello
The Angola embassy no longer issues visas in Abuja, they now only issue visas from your own country... they say i can get it at the border.......? Anyone know of an alternative? Thanks Dan |

Which countries will you be travelling through on the way to Angola? Will you go to Gabon and Congo, will you go to Kinshasa? I know for a fact that Darius and Jane were getting visas recently (ie in past month) for the same, I suggest you try to get in contact with them. On the HUBB they are 'dogito66'. What other consulates have you tried? Any more information that you can give the HUBBers so we can get you an answer sooner rather than later? Tip: fill out your profile so we can target answers better to your needs. |
Hello
In Abuja now heading south to Cameroon and Gabon. Seems like alot of embassies are now are refusing visas outside of your own country, if i leave Nigeria i will not be able to get a visa back in! and then i will be really stuck! i have searched the Hubb and others have got lucky in Dolisie BUT prefer to leave Nigeria with visa in hand. Hi Dan,
Sorry to hear that Abuja didn't work out, that was the more reliable place to get visas for Angola for the past while for travellers heading south. Not sure if there is any correlation, but the Nigerians also changed their rules at the end of January which makes it harder to get visas en route. For Angolan visas, all a person can really do is try to see if things have changed at the other cities where results have been traditionally less predictable than Abuja. Last year at this time, I met up with some friends in Matadi who had success in getting their visas there. They had tried briefly in Kinshasa but moved onto Matadi as it seemed to be slightly better place to wait at the time. I'd try Dolisie first and then have Kinshasa and Matadi as the backup plan. Maybe you'll have luck in finding another place that will issue prior to getting south, but those are the only cities that I have heard of with some possibility of success. If you are really organized, you may want to look into the logistics and process to send your passports back to your home country if all else fails. You can see the application process online by google search, some of the visa service agencies promise quick turnaround time but it isn't cheap and depends on your home country. Hope it all works out and with luck, Dolisie will become the next go to destination for visas as Abuja used to be for people heading south. |
Hi Mountainman
Thanks for the the tips, will keep trying here and then onto Calibar, looks like Ghana, Nigeria and now Angola are making it difficult for visas. Problem now is leaving Nigeria i cannot return and if i cant get the Angola visa i will be stuck in Gabon! Heads up to anyone heading south to get visa before you leave, will update any results Dan |
hmmmm..... well thats a dilly of a pickle. i contacted the angola embassy in benin because there is no angolan embassy in australia and they told me to go to abuja.
would be very interested to hear if anyone gets one on the road. |
Was at Angola embassy in Abuja today and same story, no visas.
They assured us that we can definitely get a visa at the border. Wonder if this is true , or if anyone has successfully done this? |
