In Capetown, try the official Cape Town page. There are lots of B&Bs, several Backpackers. We had a flat in Panorama which cost for us two 180 Rand p.night.

In Gambka Kloof (if thats what you mean) off the Swartberg Pass you'll find several camp sites. Quite cheap. Beautiful, and real bush.

A couple of suggestions below-

South Africa:
Cape Town - Ashanti Backpackers in suburb of Gardens. Bike parking available in front yard.
Leeu-Gamka
Hutchinson
Kimberley
Mmbatho

Botswana:
Gaborone
Mahalapye
Francistown
Nata
Kazungula

Zambia:
Choma
Lusaka - Chacha backpackers - secure bike parking + pool
Kapiri Mposhi
Mpika
Nakonde

Tanzania:
Mbeya - crap town. Just find the first cheap hotel you can. They are all similarly bad!
Iringa
Morogoro
Korogwe
Arusha - Various hotels around the market area are cheap and have bike parking

Kenya:
Nairobi - Jungle Junction or Upper Hill Campsite

Have a read of the Getaway Cape to Cairo guide. This has lots of camping recommendations on that route with GPS points.

In Gaborone try CitiCamp next door to the Bull & Bush pub. Good showers and secure camping. Bull & Bush does excellent food at reasonable prices. Ask for Mark, the owner - great guy.

Mbeya or Iringa - one of these two is the closest to the border. Can't remember which one. But whichever it is, there's one called the Norwegian (or similar) which is great and not too horrifically expensive if you need a half-decent place for one night. Nice bar etc.
There's also a truly horrific place called Annie's (or similar) in the same town. Avoid.
