Places to visit(things to do) on Cape to Cairo route

Good day everyone, :helpsmilie:

Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts on my question.

I have started to compile a list of thing/places to see/do in the countries i intend to visit along the way.

Would you care to share you recommendations of things to do/see as i go along?

Namibia, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan, Egypt.

Out of all places on the list, i've been through Egypt pretty deeply, but would very much like suggestions in any case.

Thank you all in advance.

In case you pass by Kigoma:

I didn't find Ujiji very wazungu-welcoming, but there is a still functioning cobblestone street, which dates more than 100 years now. Ze Germans did it. Some more rainy seasons and it will be falling apart. There is also a cinema from colonial times, I doubt it's still functioning though.

Gombe stream was a great park to visit. Access is by boat, though, no bikes.

When are you going sweetrolls, and how long do you want to take?
We just started more or less the same route yesterday.
Happy to give you ideas as we go along, but maybe we're too late then?

Well hot damn :)) that's awesome... i was contemplating leaving now... shoot... may have been a little rushed but cool... however i decided to stay put a little longer due to rainy season being further up...

As it stands, i'd like to get to egypt in like 2-2.5months all things being equal... its ok if it's a bit longer... but i do not have 6 months ... or 9 :)

Look like i will also have a companion so he needs to get cracking too.

I'd love to either follow along your journey or talk via email/pvt messages if possible.

For sure would love some suggestions/feedback on places, sites and situations :)

look forward to it.

Best of luck, i assume you're riding? you guys anywhere on social media?

Hiya
We're in a 4x4 landcruiser, taking a while mix of off-, main and backroads.
We do have 9 months though, so maybe you can give us tips at the end!!
Will send you a PM with contacts: send us yours back!

Some of the best destinations and routes in East Africa are offroad bier Among my favorites:

South Luangwe Park, Zambia, reached by taking the dirt road north from Petauke then exiting on pavement to the east. Also accessible on the paved road running west from Chipata.

Nyika National Park in Malawi to Chitipa, Malawi, from which there’s a good dirt road north to Songwe, Tanzania

Katavi Park, Tanzania – hundreds of hippos in a river right next to a campsite.

Usumbara Mountains of Tanzania north of Dar es Salaam – incredible mountain dirt riding through rich farming country and dozens of villages

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Uganda – be amid rhinos just 10-20 meters away in the wild, no fence

Kibale and Kidepo Parks in Uganda… Murchison Park said to be great as well, but I didn’t make it there.

Northern Kenya – Maralal, Baragoi, South Horr, Loyangalani. Fair bit of sand riding up this way but it’s an incredible corner of the world with heavy tribal populations

Northern Kenya, Lake Turkana route through Sibiloi Park into Ethiopia – among the tougher and most remote rides in Africa… experience, preparation and a riding partner definitely recommended.

Southwestern Ethiopia tribal areas… in and around Omorate, Jinka, Turmi, Konso… amazing experiences

Lalibela, Ethiopia --- rock hewn churches.
