Pietr & Marius - Polish hitchhikers W.Africa
 

Bit of a strange post but I keep thinking about these two and wonder if anyone has come across them.

Two Polish guys of 21 (think I've spelt their names correctly, I don't have surnames) who I met camping outside the Malian Embassy in Dakar on 27th December. They got a lift with me & I left them in Kaolack.

They were determined to get to Mopti, although one of them was a little more nervous than the other. They were a little naive to put it mildly, telling me that if AQIM kidnapped them, they don't have any money so they would be released :innocent: no malarial medication, nothing at all.

They had hitchhiked down to Nouakchott and then along the Route de l'Espoir, exited Mauritania thinking they could enter Mali without a visa. The Malians turned them around and the Mauritanians refused them re-entry ... eventually they got a military escort back to Nouakchott where they were put on a bus for Rosso.

I have a photo of them both, I feel bad for them because they were SO naive I didn't want to take them into Mali with me. I tried to tell them not to go to Mopti but to explore elsewhere in the region ...

Has anyone seen them? Pietr is blond and Marius has dark hair, both had overgrown beards!
