passage Congo-Angola-Zambia ?

We are orientating on the west route but we don't want to miss out on Uganda and Tanzania. All report i see, people go into Angola straight down to Namibia ! Is it possible to bent to the east somewhere in Angola to get to Zambia? I red some report that the north of Angola is somewhat rowdy and unstable but what about through the centre and then east?

Thanks,

Noel

I guess it's possible. Didn't try though. You can expect extremely bad roads, but that's valid for all Angola, except the 100km's around Luanda.

Depending on the time you have you can try, and go trough Namibia if it doesn't work out. Ones in Namibia you can get to Zambia very quiqly and hassle free. If you ask me, it's worth to throw in some northern Botswana as well.

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks Robbert,

Sure, the idea is to go back up to Uganda, Tanzania, Kenia and then come down again, doing all the southern good stuff from east to west coast and back again. I guess it makes sense once we are in Angola to head down south to Namibia and then turn left to Zambia. Longer way but may save time in the end anyway due to road conditions. But then again... the adventure. Its probaly best to decide on the spot subject to circumstance and mood!

Cheers

Just to add that for me it would be a pity to miss the coast and soutern part of Angola. I would say that it is one of my best "souvenir" of the trip we did last year with my boyfriend with a Toy HZJ78. People in these areas are so happy to see foreigners and above all are not "contaminated" with occidental way of life. Sometimes, the road is very dirty but the scenery is just magnificient.
You can after go to Tanzania through Namibia, Botswana and Zambia. Botswana is aswell a incredible destination if you like wildlife and you have money ! It's also one of our best moment in Africa but they are so numerous !
Good luck
