Obtaining visa for Nigeria in Abidjan.

Dear Hubbsters,
We've been hunting for a visa for Nigeria in Accra, Lome and Cotonou. Unfortunately we've been unceremoniously denied in all three places. It looks like we might have to send one of our group to Abidjan to apply for the visas there. Has anyone on this board had experience of one (foreign) person applying for visas on behalf of others at the Nigeria embassy in the Ivory Coast?.
Thanks in advance for constructive comments.
CJ.

Sad to hear indeed.
People were getting it with a minimum of fuss last year ( April 2013 ) in Cotonou. Try to go back and plead your case, gently... Maybe a letter of introduction from your Embassy would help, if they are willing to issue you one, that is.
Maybe the current political turmoil and the increasing threat by Boko Haram has to do with it.
In any case be careful once there, the last reports that I got were pretty negative, a pushbiker was assaulted near Oshogbo and another one fired at earlier this year...
I managed to cross it without major problems last May.
Good luck,
Levelo.

Hi Cam,
Sorry to hear you're struggling with Nigeria. Not he most recent info i'm afraid, but they did issue for us in Ouaga in Dec 2012.
Visas | Cape to Cape
Caused us some fun and games as it we only found out afterwards it was 1 month from date of issue, not from specified date as we were initially told.
Might be worth a try?

Good luck

Thanks for the replies. Maybe it was just the chance of meeting the wrong person at Cotonou embassy but she did not even want to know anything about our situation and in fact held the door of her office open for us to get out. We were neither rude nor unkempt at the time and we explained that other Nigerian embassies had directed us to her office. We tried everything including using some diplomatic connections. No success.

We flew the bikes from Lome to Libreville and are currently enjoying Gabon despite a cronic petrol shortage.

In short it seems this door has closed, but I think it can be the luck of the draw.

For those coming south, CVI is the last chance.

No.

See previous post, we flew to Gabon.

Good luck with Nigerian visas where ever you may try to obtain it.
