Hi PaulD,

I got mine in Kinshasa but i'm not sure if thats possible without a residents paper. It was also very expensive..
Maybe you can still try?
I added pictures i took at the nigerian embassy in Kinshasa with the prices (yes it's plain theft) and the requirements.

Nigeria visa

Welcome to our nightmare...
We were denied a Nigeria visa despite trying every trick in the book here in Gabon...their reason...we are not Gabonese residents.

Unfortunately we have also met a few other travellers heading north who have been denied as well in Libreville, as well as in Cameroon at all 3 Nigeria consulates (Buea, Yaounde and Douala). Reasons given in every single embassy is the same. Looks like they have tightened the screws on this one.

We heard of a couple of Swiss guys who had had to ship their vehicle coming the other way from Benin into Gabon.

We have been stuck in Libreville now for over a month trying to sort out a way of moving forward and we ARE FINALLY (hopefully) sailing on a ferry/cargo/ ship on Wednesday next week. Ship only sales once a month so if you get the timing wring and can't get your Nigeria visas like us you will have a long and expensive wait in Libreville.

Cost for ferry is cfa700,000 for 4x4, and cfa110,000 per person with cabin. Crossing is 3 to 4 days apparently. It bloody expensive!!

Good luck and safe travels

Our fb page is All-R'over-Africa

We started in Tanzania heading south to southern tip of Africa at cape agulhas and now heading north along the west coast to UK.

Yeh we tried but they said it would take 2 weeks & try Brazzerville so we did & got them in 3 days but same price as Kinshasa (most expensive visa in Africa)

Just an update on Nigeria visa in Cameroon - tried at Buea and Douala but absolutely no dice for the person travelling with me despite the fact that I have a visa already. Non-residency seems insurmountable here!

Also, Cameroon embassy in Gabon require an airline ticket... Made one up but was not accepted as not with Camair-Co. Am pretty sure the consul gets a kick back from the agency at the airport as they won't even accept online bookings from the same airline!
