Nigeria visa killing me - stuck at border

So went with the intention of getting visas as I go

I got my Nigeria visa in Bamako, Mali. However, my girlfriend flew down from Spain to Ghana and joined me for the trip. We had banked on getting the Nigeria visa in Benin at any cost. After two days fighting with the embassy in Benin, we have given up all hope of getting the visa here. We have our visas for Gabon and Congo already, but not Cameroon.

Now I am looking at options;
Option 1 - I ride across Nigeria and Cameroon as fast as I can while my girlfriend takes a flight from Cotonou to Libreville. I would go with this option, but my girlfriend refuses to be alone in Africa as a girl.

Option 2 - Ride back to Togo and try to get it in Lomé. If that fails, Ride up to Burkina Faso and try to get it in Ouagadougou. This would require buying the Togo visa at border (15 euro), and Burkina Faso visa (not sure of the price from this end)

Option 3 - If failing in Burkina Faso, Ride over to Mali where its almost a guarantee.

Option 4 - She flys directly to Kinshasa where her cousins live and stay with them until I reach DRC

Option 5 - Ship the bike to Gabon

Option 6 - She flys to Lagos and attempts to get a visa on arrival at the airport, the guy at the embassy suggested to do this if we had someone in Nigeria to back us. However I don't buy this for one second.

Anyone got any alternatives?

I will hold tumbs for you. Also had gread difficulties to get my nigeria at different embasies. When i finally got it, afew man jumped at be and attacked me in Nigeria: http://afrikamotorrad.eu/?report=en_westkueste
The Burkina Faso Visa is US$100 for Germans. I would go with Option 4.
Good luck!

We had the same issue 2 years ago.

We ended up flying the bikes from Lomé (Togo) over Nigeria. We were with 3 bikes.
2 of us had a visa for Cameroon+Gabon, but the third only had a visa for Gabon.

We decided to stick together and fly to Gabon (Libreville). (what a great country Gabon!!)

We flew ASKY I believe (costed us about 700 EUR for 1 person + 1 bike).

You have to dismantle the bike (take wheels out, remove fork, dismantle handle bar,...) to get it loaded through the hatch of airplane.

In the end this was our only option left.

(other options included using connections of a elderly Swedish ex-spy (what backup plans one drunk Sunday afternoon can give you ;-)

good luck,

Bart
