Namibia from Angola - carnet needed?

I will be travelling on locally obtained bike. Will they let me into Namibia without CDP? Any remote crossings where I can try?

Email from my 4Belgium friends.
"
Hi Roman,
*
Just crossed the border from Botswana to Namibia, no carnet was needed, although we had to pay an entree fee for the bikes wich costs around 140 Namibian Dollar (14 €).

The tires are ok now. *
*
One engine broke down again, now we are with two on one bike and one bike is towed by another....
*
So we hope we can make it from Windhoek to capetown. (it's only 1700 K's)
*
grtz,
*
Rik."
I hope this helps, olso they rode west Africa without Carnet!

With South African plates no carnet for Namibia is required.

Angola and Namibia are both part of the proposed SADC customs union, therefore I expect the same applies for Angolan plates, but I can't confirm this.

In 2009 I went to Angola with a hire car from Namibia (Namibian plates). No carnet was required - just a letter from the hire car company.
