Motorbike & Rider - Djibouti to Salalah
 

Hi,

Does anyone have any current info on the possibilities of moving from Djibouti (or somewhere close-ish) to Salalah?

I want to move with my bike.

Well I was in Somaliland geee mid March 2019 ,entered via Djibouti overland > Hargeisha & then moved onto the port of Berbera by bus. By chance Peter Gostelow blog I read on some boring day whilst trying to find an alternative way to getting from Africa to the Middle East .Peter was more then gracious to share details of his trip from Berbera to Salalah in Oman.
The issue with me was time, & I soon realised due too many set backs I had to return to Hargeisha to get to an ATM for cash ! It's do'able for sure contacts are essential. But Peter had the benefit of no war in Yemen, & 3 times I was ready to embark on a dhow (lucky my passport was not stamped out) but each dhow was rescheduled to go to Yemen to pick up more cattle ( yes in Yemen there is famine yet export cattle ????). I knew I could not go to Yemen because I had no visa.......To resolve my issue I returned back to Hargeisha flew to DXB and bussed it to Muscat ,following day to Salalah in Oman .My reply might not be relevant to your mode of transport but if you have time ie 10>30days of waiting for a dhow from Berebra to Oman then I wish you good fortune !!
