mauri/senagal boarder

hello, just crossed in to Senegal at Diama, they now have bio-metric visa kit at Mauri boarder , so no more Rosso. going south without carnet , last time 240 euros with escort. this time tried the fixer 250 euro plus commission! ,got 5 day passavant ? stopping one night at the Zeberabar , don't ask, any way its passed a couple of inspections up to now ,some how I missed the zebra, sat in a nice hotel Italia in Louga .Also the short cut to Diama is tar all the way to the national park. I got a carte bruin? ECOWAS at morro/mauri boarder for 30 Euro, it cost 50 on mauri /sen boarder, up to now it as passed one inspection.
up to now not been a bad day , only down side is I am having to put ice in the beer!
PS there are two fuel stations on the short cut

when we where on the boarder at Diama , there where two Aussies doing the world thing. they had been there 2 days , refusing to pay, I think they have been taking some bad advice

Sorry a bit lost on your post.

So without a carnet, you have paid 250euros to get a 5 day passavant for Senegal? How old is your vehicle?

Please confirm one way or another ... it was crossed very recently for almost next to nothing!

Worrying new deal they're trying to pull!

Diama crossing

hello, yes, sorry ,van is 1993 Toyota Hiace, if your motor is under 8 years you get a normal passavant, not sure price but it is minimul, like I said in last post, there is a young couple still there after 2 days holding out, the customs guy wont speak to him now, after some harsh words. regards chris

hi .

Either someone has been scammed , or I got lucky.

Last January I It was 4500CFAS/8 Euro for a 20 year old vehicle. No carnet.
48 hours passavant 'negotiable' to a week's passavant just by asking . He didnt even accept any gift for the extension. Other travellers that arrived a couple days later with 4x4s, bangers and motorbikes (very old ) none of them had to pay neither.

That said ,stayed in Zebrabar for 2 weeks, got pulled over a couple times, and no-one ever asked/inquired about the expired passavant .

Does the insurance paper they physically gave you list all the ECOWAS countries on the paper?

Anyone else out there who is able to clarify how much money are Senegalese customs douanes officers asking at the present time (NOVEMBER 2016) for a passavant for an old (>10 years) car/van/lorry to enter Senegal from Mauritania?

And for the people who got recently a Mali visa in Nouakshott, what are the formalities, waiting times and prices?

Leaving soon from Portugal (I'll sell my van+trailer, if there is anyone interested out there). :)

Thanks.

from talking to a couple who went through last week, they are looking for €150 if your vehicle is older that 8 years even though you are transiting and it should be free..... I think they are getting greedy and would be very interested to hear if any one else has gone in the last 2 weeks
