MALI 'Madness'
With no disrespect intended towards Mali!
It is the slogan for my third mission by 4x4 (1st one was by GS650) down to the orphanages in Mopti, Mali. You can see all the info here: 3rd Mali Madness Mission is a 'GO' - ::. UKGS'er.com .:: Smellybiker's Wanderlust Worldmap • View topic - 2007 Mali Madness Expedition and using Bob's Wanderlust brilliant map to get there too:thumbup1: Thanks for your support Bob:thumbup1: If you would like to help, your contribution will be welcome- In the UKGSER post you will find details of the dedicated bank account where you can deposit funds. If you do make a donation, please email me your name and amount you paid in - it is a requirement to balance the books and my reports to SOS Village- a UK registered charity who operates those orphanages. Malaria continues to be a problem and the last cargo saldy has all been used up. Please help if you can - every £ help. bertsosmali 'AT' yahoo.co.uk (remove blank spaces!) Departure Dec 2007  |

If you are coming through France let me know; I also take a lot of kids clothing & medicines down to Africa & have a 'tame' chemists nearby where i can pick up drugs for free to take with me. Apparently (at least in France) pharmacies return a lot of stock to the pharmaceutical company for whatever reason - not out of date or damaged and some of it is prescribed stuff. I get it for free & keep a bag of it to send down from time to time. You might want to ask locally if you can do the same ... Kira |
Bril but
 Thanks TT-Kira
My 'locals' are helping too. Not passing through France -:oops2: this time but will do on way back. Sent you a pm |

Well done
Hi Bert
well done and respect Fantastic acheivement and very big gesture - hope all went well and meds etc reached the planned recipients. Let us know a bit about it - presume you used a Hilux? |
Hia Chris
I seldom set any land sped records whilst I'm typing so I hope I will be forgiven for asking you to please redirect your browser here where you can find lots of info and pictures located in different posts:
Yes, I used my Hilux HL2 (with few mods) again - the carrying capacity fo my F650Dakar is a little small! The cargo was delivered into the hands of Moussa at the SOS Village in Sanankoroba, 30 kms south of Bamako instead of Mopti (as I did last time- due to time constraints). They share so it was not a issue. Children in need are in need where ever they may be. Despite the long, often dirty and dusty journey, it felt really good to see so many smiles- despite the problems they face and emotional upheavals, they still smile and give you a warm welcome - it's really humbling - Thank you for your kind comments. |
