Leaving Senegal to Mauretania at Diama possible?

Quick question for a fellow traveller that is not on the HUBB: is it possible for foreigners to leave Senegal into Mauretania at the Diama border? I entered through this border but coming from Mauretania. Thx a lot ...

6 months ago, a German running a camp in St. Louis told me that it was no longer possible to cross from Senegal to Mauritania with your own vehicle at Diama, if you were going that way you had to go Rosso. Of course that's second-hand information, at best.

Go over Rosso

It's not possible. I was at the border 3 days ago, you have to go over Rosso.

You can cross into Senegal at Diama, no problem with that. The other way round is the problem. They will not stamp your Carnet at Diama though and you have to go to Dakar to get it stamped. They will give you 48 hours to do that. If you make up some story (you are sick and cannot ride/drive), they might give you more time.
