Great place to stay in the Gambia
 

We spent a month in the Gambia whilst on our trip down the West Coast of Africa and we can recommend a great place to stay (rather than going to the Sukuta camping that everybody we've met complain about).
We stayed on the beach with this great guy, Fansu, who has built a small restaurant on the edge of the water. He is the best cook we have come across during our whole trip, you should be able to camp in security on the deserted beach, surrounded by nature and you won't be disappointed by his welcome.
To get there take the coastal road South past Ghana Town and TANJI. About a couple of kms south of TANJI you will see a tall Mobile Phone Tower by the village of Batakunku (not signposted at the time). Go to the foot of the Tower and turn right, down the track towards the sea (150 metres, sandy). When you reach the beach, turn right, the place is another 100 metres away.
