Good mechanic/garage in Lusaka
 

Hi,

I was wondering whether anyone had a recommendation for a good and trustworthy mechanic and/or garage in Lusaka? I've got a Nissan Patrol, and it needs to be serviced and some small mods made (install air lift kit, fix folding table on rear door, second battery, etc.).

From experience in the near past, if you can get your bits in Lusaka I would drive down to Livingston and get it done there. There is a large vehicle engineering area in Lusaka and trying to get a relatively small problem fixed on my bike for less than the overall value of the moto was well nigh impossible and in the end it worked out cheaper and faster to ride back down to Livingston. A comment made to me was that in Zambia in general and Lusaka in particular a tourist was regarded by all as a walking ATM. I found this to be true and I am very well travelled with experience of being ripped off all over the world. Ride safe.

Thanks a lot for your replies. Car is registered in Zambia, and am not a tourist (though still white). Used a mechanic based in Lusaka, but he's let me down too many times, so was wondering whether there were any good alternatives. Might try the Livingstone option next time I'm down there, will check before hand if they also work on non-LR vehicles...
