Gambia Coup
 

Use caution when entering the capital of Gabon ( sorry wrong gambia)...apparently a coup is in progress, if you are in the countryside...maybe wait until things quiet down for a couple of days...the embassys in the capital would be closed for newyear anyway, so no need to hurry to the capital...its also worth noting that some travelers have been able to get the rep congo visa in franceville, so no need to head to the capital anyway ( but look more into this beforehand)

tragic if this is happening. The Gambia has really come on in the last 10-15 years, and the population have been among the beneficiaries

Yes, it would be a real pity - Gambia certainly has progressed a lot. Hopefully things will calm down quickly (if it flares up badly that is).
