Fuel quality in Namibia/Botswana

Can anyone tell me what the quality of diesel is like in the above countries. Any special precautios necessary. Thanks in advance.

Fuel

Fuel is fine there. In fact people from Zimbabwe and Zambia drive across the border regularly to get all fuels from Kasani and other Bots towns.

Only problem we had with fuel was in Tanzania and kenya.

Good luck

Filter through a sock when filling from barrels in remote areas. Prevents the dead frogs clogging up your diesel filter :-)

No problem in Bots - actually it's damn good diesel. Also no problem in Tanzania at least along the Tan-Zam highway. Kenya is aslo good - although out in the wild east it could do with extra filtering.

In Zim be carefull when buying fuel in plastic containers - from experience thay sometimes have sediment/crap in the bottom of the container.

Also heard that some folk like diluting the fuel with parafin - not sure about how to test this but in most countries just stick to the major fuel stations.
