Just to clarify: gvdaa, you wrote that public transport was widely available. Does this also go for the Abeche-Geneina section and for longer distances onwards from Al Geneina? Do you think it would be possible to pay a truck to take me to Nyala in a military convoy?

What is the cost of food and accomodation in the area? How pervasive is the military presence? Did you feel you could move about freely in towns and villages? How about photography?
