E-Visas
M'lady and I will be doing the west coast route late next year (leaving home 1st July for Norway, so not in UK after that - we're resident here, but I'm Irish and she's German)
Wikipedia tells me that both of us can get e-visas for Cote d'Ivoire and Benin (this visa thing is great fun, eh?) I'm wondering if this will work at a road border or if they're just for airports / business travellers. Anyone know? Simon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_r...Irish_citizens https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_r...erman_citizens It's pretty much the same for UK citizens. |

I am also Irish but found last year the best option was the VTE via the Barcelona office iof Benin consulate. Creer will be along shortly to update you on the specifics but in my case it gave multiple entry to Burkina Faso, Togo and Benin (I didn't make it to CDI but it works 5here too I understand). . Done in days by post. Very efficient. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Hi Simon,
Thanks. A couple of further questions, pls; firstly. I read somewhere that this visa is not always recognised at every border - perhaps that some border guards maybe don't even know what it is. You had no problems? If not then this could be very useful. Also, how long does it last for? We don't want to be committed to tight schedules. Thanks again. Simon H |
… and can you opt for it to take effect AFTER the point at which you collect it?

No VTE from Benin Consulate in Barca
NB
I received this from the Benin Consulate in Barcelona today: 'I’m so sorry but, from 24th of April, the Embassies and Consulates of Benin no longer make visas. The only way to obtain the visa to enter into Benin is on https://evisa.gouv.bj/fr/ As for the entente visas, which they were made at the consulates, they are not made anymore.' Seems the VTE is no longer... |
Glad you checked....seems I got in under the wire (as for my Nigeria visa in Ouagadougou !)

Niger are being difficult with it. The rumour on the road is that CI won't accept it, this isn't strictly true, I've asked the Chief of Police in Abidjan who tells me if CI is marked there, they have to accept it! Otherwise it's www.snedai.ci for Cote d'Ivoire and if you talk nicely to the issuing embassy they'll put your start date several weeks ahead for you :palm: However Bamako don't like issuing it (unsure if they're still on the drop down list of embassies that do issue it) |
