DRC - south to north.

Is anyone planning on transiting DRC, south to north this (2015) dry season ?

I hope to get to Lubumbashi around the beginning of June and head north. I am planning to go via Kananga to Kisangani, Isiro and enter Uganda at Arua.

Would be nice to know if anyone else will be going that way this year, even if only part of the way.

I am riding a Yamaha AG 200.

By the way, I have now completed that route....... highly recommended !

Hi, just wandering how long it took to get from Lubumbashi to Kananga? Going to be doing Kinshasa to Lubumbashi in a few weeks, thanks

Hi there, Lubumbashi to Kananga took me around 8 days of travelling. I went Sandoa, Kapanga, Luiza. Let know if you'd like any further info.....

Ok thanks! that's the route I was planning to take. I've got lots of questions but that would ruin the surprise. Were you camping in villages/where did you sleep? And if there's anything you think I should know, please say

I stayed in missions as much as I could. If not I would find a village in daylight and ask the 'chef de localite' for somewhere safe to sleep....the rules change after dark in DRC (IMHO) and so I opted not to wild camp anywhere.

Having said that...DRC is my favourite and the most interesting country in Africa, by far.......email or pm me if you like.
