I would also be very thankful to have updated information.
I plan to do it south or northbound on a Suzuki VStrom, not the best off road bike. Any info about the border crossing and customs also appreciated. |
Maybe the answer comes a little bit late but I took the piste to Diama way and back in April/May 2022 without any problem, it will be OK with the V-Storm.
The piste and border may be closed few days every year because of high water. So check before going but don't ask people in guesthouse, they will tell you it's closed and send you to Rosso where a "good friend" will "help" you to pass for a "few" dollars!! The piste to Diama is very nice especially when you come from the dry Mauritania, it's very green and wet, you can see water buffalos, warthogs, birds... And absolutely no problem at border. You can find details here. https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hu...-2022-a-103058 |
Totally late on the reply but just an FYI for any future readers. What Diama is like this week can be completely different the next, maybe even the next day. If it rains then just dont go. If it has rained heavily within the last few days, be extremely careful. There is no help coming if you get stuck.

Went down there last year (Oct 2022) and road was very bad but bone dry. Just been down again (April 2023) and the road has been re done and is dirt but fine. Could average more than 50mph on it.
