Dark Visor

Hi,

I need some help, with regard to the use of a Dark Visor. Are they allowed to be worn in South Africa or are clear visors, only allowed.

Thanks
Green Hornet

The UK is the only place I've ever heard of that doesn't allow dark visors. Of course most police will be unhappy with dark visors at night.

Everyone feel free to chime in with anywhere you know of that doesn't allow dark visors! :)

NOTE: I don't like them at all, preferring sunglasses so I don't have to worry about getting caught out at night. And changing them is a hassle too.

I don't like dark visers either, but i found a sweet smoke-coloured one for my Shoei that is at least acceptable at night and perfect during the day.

Tinted visors are also illegal in Australia apparently, although this doesn't stop the police from using them.

Why not use a helmet with a seperate flip down sun visor ?
I would not have liked to drive through all that tunnels on my trip to Norway without it. It's only there when you need it.

Hey Flying Gringo, thanks for the info on Costa Rica in the blog. Our RTW is back on schedule. The new plates and screw on the left wrist/arm have given me half again more flexibility and so riding is back. Please note that the typing is better, too. On the stretch of road from Southern Peru to Southern Chile, what would you guess your average gas price was. Thanks again for good postings.

tinted visors

South Africa - the land of the tinted car windows.
As long as you wear a helmet at all and your bike has lights and a registration plate no traffic cop wil give a f**t about what visor you use or even if your helmet has one at all.

I believe if you contact the MRAA you will find that tinted visors are not illegal in Oz, except at night.
