Chobe national park camping reservations?
 

Does anyone know how to book the public campsites in Chobe in advance?

Last time I visited Chobe (2010) I booked in person at the National Parks office in Maun, but that is not practical this time as I am on a short visit. I can find travel agents that seem to handle booking campsites for guided groups, but I haven't yet found how to book the public campsites for self drive travellers.

Any suggestions?

It depends on which campsites you want. Now most sites are run by 3rd party companies. You can book directly with those companies, theoretically by email but I've had better luck by phone. Or you can use an agent. NDM, Ultimate Routes and Botswana Footprints are all agencies that specialize in bookings for individuals. All have similar rates that are relatively inexpensive, usually a flat fee on top of the booking cost.
