camshaft (XT 600 E) - Dar Es Salaam
 

I've had a not uneventful journey down from the UK (crossing C.A.R. and "liberated" South Sudan)on a '97 XT 600 E. I've changed clutchplates, chain and sprockets en route, but I'm now knackered with a broken camshaft in Dar Es Salaam. Does anyone know of a possible supplier anywhere near Dar please?

Do you remember me from niamey at the campsite in an overland truck. good to hear you made it through Ok. how was CAR and Sudan??
For camshaft try Macardi beach campsite the owner Andy used to have an XT (he may piont you in the right direction)
You could get the bike doctor in jo burg to send one up
lots of bikes in arusha cant remember any phone numbers off hand (ill have a look)

Try caling Upper Hill Camp Site in Nairobi and ask them to give you the number of teh Yamaha dealership in Nairobi, or alternatively Rick's number in Nairobi. One of the 2 will be able to help you, I am sure. Upper Hill's number is 720290 (forgot the code for Nairobi and Kenya).

If you don't come right you can call Moritz in Germany, he deals excusively in XT spares and has lots of second hand and new stuff. He will send to foreign countries, cost to Dar will be about 100 Euros and will take about 4 or 5 days. Let me know if you have not come right, then I will send you his e-mail address, don't have it here right now, but you could search yourself under www.xt600.de.
