Cameroun?

Hello all,

currently being in Casamance region in Senegal, our original plan was to head for Cameroun. However when we were in The Gambia we heard from various aid-workers there that Cameroun was pretty unsafe for the moment, with lots of crime and officials being a real pain in the ass for foreigners. Does anybody had recent experiences in Cameroun? Might be interesting to know so we might change plans...

Hello,

I am surprised by your remarks, no change in Camroun since some time to the best of my knowledge. Road blocks exist since many years, if you speak some french there is always a way to get through without paying if you stay polite and friendly.

Crime: I am of the opinion that the situation has improved, seems pretty save for the moment (confirmed by local residents)

Route Gambia to Cameroun: we will do the same trip in spring 2004, what is your planned itinerary?

Have a save trip

Speaking about Cameroon ....

anyone knows if a Carnet DP is required for The Cameroon ?

Also planning the same route this Spring(Vehicle's currently in Sukuta, Gambia )
, will travel to Cameroon , Angola , Capetown , starting this Spring 2004 , with a small , brown & loud Suzuki Jeep , just in case.

My intended route is :

A http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif Gambia->Senegal->Mali->(B Fasso?)-> Niger->Chad->Cameroun

B http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif Gambia->Senegal->Mali->(B Fasso?) Niger-
>Nigeria->Cameroun

and planning to get Visas "on the fly " .

any ideas ? , is it a particular Visa imposibility with these routes ?(European U. Passport ).

What route are you planning ?
