Border Guinea Ivory Coast

We just hear that the border Guinea Ivory Coast is closed because of ebola.
Can anybody confirm this?

Dave The Hat 21 Mar 2016 10:46

Yes, the border is closed.

The word is that Ivory Coast would reopen the land borders with both Liberia and Guinea in March 2016, but there's no sign of that happening yet - and with the few new cases of Ebola south of Nzerekore the authorities may delay the opening even further.

Your only option will therefore be a detour via Mali.

Thanks, we pick up our Mali today

Guinea - Ivory Coast Border

Hi,

I have seen quite a lot of information about the Liberia - Guinea or Ivory Coast border being closed but cant find any further indication that the Guinea - Ivory Coast border is closed.

I also asked in the London embassy of Ivory Coast last week and they said the border was currently open.

I intend to travel from Gambia to Ivory Coast in early May. I will take local advice then but i would prefer the Guinea route rather than the Mali option.

I can assure you 110% that the Guinean/CI and Liberian/CI borders are closed!

With the latest find of Ebola in Guinea last week, I can't see it being opened for some time.

Glad to have you back! We've had a bit of a paucity of clear, current reports from West Africa.

Wishing you best in your C.I. project.

Thanks, heading back there in under a week for another stint

Would be good to see you there, it's all changed since you knew it ... massive progression has gone on in many respects!

Hi Creer,

Thanks for confirming. That's a shame, do you know any details on flights from Conakry to Abidjan ? I see tickets are available ?

Otherwise I might consider the overland route through Mali although I'm not sure how safer option that is ?

Cheers,

Joe

Joe

You could probably fly Air Cote d'Ivoire to Abidjan.

But I know quite a few people who've crossed Mali very recently without a hiccup, a night in Bamako and continued on. I was there in September without any problems, just sad to hear 'on est ensemble' everywhere!

You should be fine, contact Phil at Sleeping Camel to let him know you're on your way through Mali and at least you'll have someone expecting you!

If you go via Mali, don't forget to get your Mali visa in advance.

Officially it's no longer available on the border. I do know one biker who got it there back in August but it involved a bit of work.

Confirmed : Mali visa no longer available at the border. We had to drive back to Dakar to get it. Even substantial grease did not help.

Guinea travel restrictions

Hi all,

I'm currently in Gambia for a few days after overlanding from the UK and planning my travel onto ivory coast and beyond. I'm looking at either heading back to Dakar and flying to Abidjan or going down to Conkary and flying from there. My concern is around entering other countries after Guinea I presume the ivory coast is fine as the flights is to there but does anyone have any info about entering Ghana, Sao Tome or Angola after visiting Guinea (I already have visas').

Any help would be much appreciated.

Joe

Joe not entirely sure if I understand you ... I presume you're worried about travelling on having been in Guinea???

The other countries are fine, Ghana is so confident that the border has become a joke in terms of health. 1,500 - 2,000CFA will allow anyone to pass without being checked for your 'Ebola temperature' or Yellow Fever certificate as I noted last weekend whilst a friend's brother died in Accra as there wasn't a spare oxygen mask in any hospital :offtopic:

Do be aware that Angola has a Yellow Fever crisis at the moment so be careful whilst there
