Bike Storage for a week in Bamako
hi, im riding to bamako from ireland via ghana in july august and a friend is bringing the bike back on a similar route.
Does anybody know of someone i can leave the bike with for a couple of days , a friendly expat backpackers etc. any help would be great damien |
There are plenty of backpackers auberges in Bamako, I stayed twice in French run auberge Djamilla, South side of the river, out of the centre. A very nice little place with good internet.
But I´m sure anywhere you ask, it won´t be a problem. |
I can recommend Kaira-So Camping (Camping Kaira-So :: Accueil). It's not really a fully-fledged camping site, but rather the private compound of French-Malian host Jean, who has a Transalp himself, if I remember correctly, and who's just a great guy all around. It's big, they have a wall around the property, and he offers long-term storage too. He can help you with customs as well.
Check out these Italians I met there in spring 2010 (BndBiker - Bambini nel Deserto ONG ONLUS). They left their Dommies in Bamako and just returned for the second leg of their journey. |
Sleeping Camel in Badialabougou is a very nice and friendly place to stay.
