Best road into Luozi ferry, DRC
 

Hi all,

Coming from the North to the ferry crossing at Luozi - which is the best way to come in - from the East at Boko or from directly North at Mindouli ?

In either case, where are the border formalities to leave Congo-B and enter DRC ?

I've seen a few reports that talk about border formalities at Luozi itself, but it seems to be a long way from the actual border...

Hi Dan,
I did that crossing a few years ago and come from Mindoli, the road if you can call it that was rough but enjoyable (but near impassable if it's raining as there is lots of clay), eveyone along the route is very friendly too. It eas a little bit hard to find as it just looks like an old unused road, but there were local guys crossing 2 up on those chinese scooters.
I never found the exit post for Congo-b, and the drc crossing was a stick across the road with a thatched hut a bit further down the road with an old border guard borded out of his brain. The road was the toughest part and I got caught in some rain so managed to crash at some church place on the way until the rain cleared. Was probably one of my best experiences of the whole trip. So I can reccomend it.

I came in from Boko, I went that was because I needed to get fuel at Kinkala coming from the coast . The border is an easy one and the ferry is cheap. It's quite a technical road and a little confidence is needed and especially when wet. I heard I think being called "Africans worst road". It's fantastic riding.

The border is simple, I put allot of information on the app "iOverlander" with info regarding customs and immigration plus the boat across. Check it out.
