Bamako-Dakar in Feb/Apr
 

Hi guys

Planning to go from Bamako to Dakar in february or april.

Does anybody know about road conditions? Which is the best and fastest route?
How long time will that trip take me?

hello Klaus,

from Bamako to Dakar is fairly easy. There is a new (maybe two year old) road going to Kayes, on the Michelin map the northern road. From Kayes to the border the road should be paved by now all the way.

So depending on your bike and you travelling spead. Three/four/five/six days, I would say. It took us five days in 2005.

Travel slow, enjoy, watch out for cattle and drink plenty of water
