Hi all.
Me and 2 friends got stuck in Point Noirre for about 10 days during January!!! NO LUCK!!!
We tried everything, the first time we went the security guard did not what us to go in and just said that people on bikes are not allowed in Angola,We then got invitation letters from a brewery in Angola, that did not help, eventaully whe found a guy who is a personal friend off the amabasador but that did not help!
We where in Accra at the embassy, which is close to the pick&pay or woolworths, they were very friendly but at the end could not help us with anything. We also whent to the embassy in Libreville where the they just told us that they ran out of visa stickers. At the end we had to go back to Dolisie and from there on to brazzaville and on the ferry to Kinshassa and then to Matadi where we got a 5 day visa and had to enter Angola the same day cause the next day was a public holiday.eventually we travelled through Angola in 8 days and the border at oshikati did not have any problems. Angola was really nice and we did enjoy it very much.
I think the thing at Point Noirre is that they don not whant tourists to enter cabinda cause off all the oil,all the wealth in Angola is produced near Cabinda and they do not whant any risks.
Good luck to everyone, just keep on trying, hopefully something will change.

Oh well, big sigh------ we were hoping to get into Angola about August, at least we can now have a plan B.
I doubt I can wing it as a priest or missionary though:innocent:

Accra, Ghana

Hi,
We are now in Accra, Ghana. Because of all the difficulties with the Angola visa we went to the Angola embassy here in Accra to inform. They told us that they cannot issue it here for us since we are no Ghana ressidence, but we can fill in the forms and they can sent it to Pointe Noir. We are not sure if this works out, but we will give it a try.
Has anyone recently succeded getting a Angola visa and entering the country?

Kinshasa and the Angolan Transit Visa

Help! We intend crossing into Angola via Matardi in about 2/3 weeks time and then take our chances on over running the 5 day transit visa. Can anyone please help with information on the Kinshasa side of the Brazzaville/Kinshasa crossing and any continuing problems with the Kinshasa officials re travelling on to Matardi without an Angolan visa of any kind?
Thanks
Peter Jacques

Letter of invitation?

Has anyone found someone or a business (hotel, camping lodge) in Angola that will email travelers a "letter of invitation" supposedly needed for a visa?

I've sent like 12 emails to Angola establishments and have received no replies. I tried the Angola Adventure Safaris that Grant mentioned, nothing. Hoping to enter Angola from the north in roughly late January 2009. Thx!

To follow up on the below post, it looks like Ben did secure a five-day transit visa in Matadi, DRC. Scroll down to the 22 May 2008 post at his blog here:

The Ambassador, Eduardo, is a fantastically accomodating gentleman who will arrange for the correct paperwork and communication to be forwarded to the Angolan Embassy in Brazzaville to allow a 30day visa to be collected from there.

He will also issue letters written in both French and Portugese which can be presented at the DRC border therefore eliminating any problems associated with entering DRC due to not having the Angolan visa in advance. No charge is made here, the usual charge for the visa is made at Brazzaville!

Onwards south, wish us luck in the rains!!
