Africa to Yemen
Hello travelers,
We are planning a trip from the Netherlands to Cape Town and back trough the Middle East starts in mart. So my question: Can anyone tell me how we can go (with or car) from Africa (Djibouti or Eritrea) to Yemen. I can’t find a ferry there!! Any advise? If you have any information on this please could you email me on e.vaneck@tele2.nl Greeting Emiel |
Hi Emiel
there are two possibilities to ship your car from that corner of Africa to Yemen: 1. Take a Dhau from Djibouti to Mokkah, Hodeida or Aden. There is DEFINITELY NO ferry boat service from Djibouti, Port Sudan or Massawa to Yemen. You may find a lot of relevant information about this Red Sea crossing on my website http://www.tlc-exped.net/R21Info.html (we made this trip in March 2001) You may find an additional report on shipping our Toyota LandCruiser HZJ75 from Djibouti to Mokkah on http://www.tlc-exped.net/R21Ber.html 2. The other good solution would be to take the regular RoRo ferry boat from Port Sudan to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). You can easiliy get both Yemen visa and Saudi Transit visa in Khartum.
