3rd Party motor insurance in South Africa/Namibia
Hi my yellow card is running out soon, I plan to get to Namibia via botswana before this happens. I have been told that 3rd Party motor insurance is covered the South Africa & Nambia ( & Botswana?). If some one can confirm this please. Or will I need to buy insurance for the last couple weeks down to CT at the boarder in Nambia?
Thank you George |
No 3rd Party
Hi George,
you don“t need 3rd party in South Africa. If you run over an pedestrian the RAF (Road Accident Fund) covers for that. If you crash into an expensive Mercedes its your problem. If an uninsured (and there are many) driver/vehicle crashes into you, it will also turn out as your problem:-( In Namibia you pay Road fees on the border and I heard that includes some kind of 3rd party insurance, just ask at the border when you pay for it. regards Thomas |
