125cc to take in Namibia
 

Here it is. 125cc Senke (it looks like any other Chinese bike).
I have abandoned her not far from Windhoek at secure location.
5700 km on the clock (coming all way down from Brazzaville).
Badly needs oil change (1 litre). Broken spring retainer for central foot.
The rest well maintained and in good order. Burns 1.8l/100 km.

There are no papers attached whatsoever, but you do not need them to go north (I had no problems at all coming south).

Funny. It was working yesterday. The bike is a Chinese copy of your basic Honda CG125.

This is the bike (here at day 0 at Hippocampe).

The body is EXACT Honda CG125 copies unlike E. Africa which favorites CG125 engine jammed on Suzi GN125 body.

Looks like a nice trip. And this Honda CG125 is a classical. Any ride report out there (in English) ?

No report yet. Few highlights / updates:

Ferry from Congo to DRC at Luozi is brilliant alternative to Kinshasa ferry. If roads are dry they are accessible by not so bad, bumpy road. The ferry is free, though cars are probably charged few usd per crossing. You can camp for free at Luozi Catholic Mission. Be prepared for long ferry queues - on motorbike we went straight to the beach and crossed within half an hour but few fellow travellers with 4x4s waited two days for their turn. The ferry takes two cars at one go (or one heavy) and breaks frequently.

Do not forget to tight all the nuts/screws if you buy a 125 Chinese bike in Africa. I really mean ALL. Your spokes may be ok for 20 days only to get really loose on day 21. Tight critical nuts upon leaving a shop - on my bike front wheel nuts were completely loose. The chain needs tensioning every second day.

Crossing from DRC to Angola at Kindopolo (RN16, south of Kinshasa) was not so bad as someone reported it on this forum. There is immigration post at the first village on Angola side (someone reported going as far as Uige for stamps). The border areas of this road are really bad, though, and I can not imagine going there with four wheels (parts of the road were washed away - washouts are few meters deep). There are paths next to main "road", perfect for a bike. Deep, soft sand at the last stretch before the border on DRC side - you will certainly stuck there and some digging out will be necessary.

Angola costs, were not so high as I have expected, but this was due to exclusively bush-camping or staying at missions. Fuel is 60/40 kwanza for gasoline/diesel (1 USD is c.a. 100 kwanza). 0.33 beer is c.a. 100, basic meal on a street is 200 (e.g. rice with sauce).

CDP for entering Namibia was not needed. Thou I was asked for it. As I had no papers whatsoever, after an hour wait they let me in. Entry road tax is 140N$ for a bike.

Checkpoints were not an issue anywhere. Most of them were in northern Angola - you tell your story and they let you go without asking for anything. Once I was asked for registration, but answering "I do not have one" was enough to let me go :)
