Amazing . What are the chances this can be made into a generic drug distributed for free worldwide and not just for the "military in the field"...

Malaria vaccine

There is a lot of news media coverage on this subject today in the UK. (Search for the key words below if you are interested).
In this case, it is about GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) who have developed a vaccine that could come to the market in about 2 more years after jumping through the regulatory hoops.

GSK have developed this in their labs after trials in Africa and they aim for it to be produced "for no profit" = distributed at cost + 5% which would be used to fund further development of the vaccine.

Malaria vaccine could be ready by 2015
Dated 22/10/2013

The vaccine, RTS,S, has been developed by GSK in partnership with the Path Malaria Vaccine Initiative and with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and was tested in a clinical trial involving 15,500 children in seven African countries – the largest such test ever held on the continent.

The trial found that, in the 18 months following vaccination, children aged between five and 17 months who had received RTS,S were 46 per cent less likely to contract malaria than those who had not been vaccinated.

========================
Needs more work, 46% is ok... 90% would be better. 'They' are planing on cost + 5% .. the 5% is to further develop the drug.
