High cost of UK Vaccinations
I have just had a bill for £174.00 for my vaccinations for a trip to Africa which I think is extortionate. I have spent 3 years in Africa before and only ever had to pay for the Yellow fever vacine. Last big trip was 1996 and I didn't have to pay for any of them then, has anyone else had to pay these charges in the UK. Regards Chris

Hi Chris,
Only had to pay for Yellow Fever myself. I go to the local docs for the rest. You normally have to pay for Rabies if you get that though. I got a couple of boosters done a few months ago and that wasn't even done at my registered docs. I just called them up and signed the visitor form. |
Hi, I phoned around a few other surgeries in the area today and they don't charge. I have only ever had to pay for yellow fever before. So I'm going to refuse to pay and see what happens. When they said there were charges I assumed all sergeries charged the same, obviuosly they are just a bunch of thieving bastards at my local doctors. Regards Chris

Hi
I believe that practitioners have to be registered to give some of the vaccinations, such as Japanese Encephalitis, so your GP may not be able to give all the jabs needed. So far, Jap Enc B £56 and Rabies £90. Got Hep A, Hep B, Polio, Tetanus, Typhoid jabs FOC from GP ------------------ Sean |
