Follow up to my previous posting.
I had Lasik surgery on 19 Dec 2019 in Perth, WA.

Before the procedure, I specifically asked about the corneal flap never healing, as claimed in previous postings.
It seems this is just urban mythology.
The flap DOES heal.

The surgeon's only comment was that there were cases on record where an impact injury caused a flap to open up, but the severity of the impact was considered to be such that the cornea would have torn anyway.
His opinion, but you have to trust someone, sometimes.

The procedure wasn't pleasant, but it was tolerable.
I'm now four days out from my procedure and apart from some minor grittiness, have no adverse effects. No halos, no flaring at night.
I haven't been out on the bike yet, but the weather here has been extremely hot and dry (40C+) and I am not experiencing any adverse reactions.

The best bit was hearing the surgeon's comment at my post-procedure check-up, 'ah yes, 20/20 vision'.

A further update to my Lasik surgery.....
It's now 5 weeks since I was lasered and I can report very few problems.
I stayed off the bike for a month, but last week did a 2 day 1600km round trip in temperatures up to 39C.
No issues with dry eyes, blurring or anything.
I am slightly more light-sensitive than I was before, but this seems to be reducing with time.
I don't much like travelling at night anyway, but seem to have very slight flaring from oncoming headlights. Not enough to cause any concern; I can't even be sure I didn't have this before the procedure, anyway.

If I may be so bold as to offer advice to anyone considering laser correction;

Do your research.

I chose to engage a very experienced ophthalmic surgeon (Perth Laser Vision, Dr Phillip McGeorge) who has carried out many thousands of laser procedures.
I verified initially that it would be he who carried out the procedure, not a less experienced member of his staff.
I believe there are many walk-in shops in the High Street that offer cheaper laser surgery, typically carried out by a GP, not a surgeon.
You will get what you pay for.
I'm not necessarily recommending this surgeon, just stating that in my experience, the care I was given at his clinic was second to none.

Reference an incorrect comment in a previous posting about the corneal flaps never healing, i have just had a follow-up check by my local optometrist, who said the flaps were healing nicely and were almost invisible.
