Yellow Fever requirements

Looking for information regarding Yellow fever requirements.
From what I can tell, Bolivia is the only country along the western side of South America that requires Yellow Fever Immunization. I have also read conflicting stories about its requirement and or enforcement at the borders. Any input?
I don't currently have the shot and wasn't planning unless its really necessary. Im in Quito heading south. I assume I can get it in Lima or any major city if i need to. Correct?
thanks

It all depends on where you come from. I have never been asked for any proof that I have it thoughout the whole of the Americas.

BUT, and it is a big but, I need proof that I have had immunisation before I return home as it will be shown in my passport that I have entered YF countries.

If I cannot produce the evidence, I get stuck in quarentine for ages, not the way to go. Your country may be a tad more relaxed, but I would check this out before you leave.

All countries bordering Brazil were requiring Yellow Fever Vac if coming from Brazil.
Not sure about today. Last time I crossed no one asked for it.

I was asked for it to enter Ecuador. They were giving free shots to people at the border (with Colombia) if you did not have it.

Where are you from? Where are you? You can get the shot at any medical clinic in almost any south american country. As a side note, Bolivia also has a reciprocal visa for US citizens. It is a bit cheaper and easier if you get it in advance. They will only accept NEW, PERFECT CONDITION $20 BILLS at the border.

Im from Kelowna, currently in Banos, Ecuador.
No problems so far. I am under the impression Boliva is the only one requiring it. I don't plan on involving Brazil in this trip, so going from what you said, I might just take my chances. Worst case i get turned away at the border, and go back to get it.

I hope you are planning on taking the road through the jungle over to cuenco/Loja or wherever. There is an area where you drive on the jungle side of the mountains and you look over the amazon basin. It's a must see.

I was surprised the other day when I reentered the US and although I mentioned South America as my travel destinations, I was NOT asked about yellow fever or whether I had been to Bolivia.

Cheers
