Yamaha ybr 125 for sale, Santiago Chile area

Dear all, I am coming to the end of my four month or so trip around Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Peru, and so I need to sell my beautiful little six month old Yamaha ybr 125 G (a slightly off road pimped version of the ybr). It has been a faithful friend over nearly 10,000 km, with no mechanical problems whatsoever. I am in the Santiago de Chile area, and need to sell the bike in the next 2 weeks, before I fly to Quito. So if there's anyone out there looking for a super reliable little bike to travel South America, please do get in touch. Cheers.

I arrived to Santiago today (cold!) and just got back from a trip to a few dealers. I have been opting for Honda XR 125/150 though YBR is also an option. How much do you want to sell it for? I you have some time I would be happy to see the bike and even more to hear about your trip.

BTW did you have any problems with RUt and registration? There seems to be mixed information about this on fora.

Did you manage to ret a RUT? Do you have a Visa? They send me and my spanish speaking friend from one office to the other but did not give it scince I did not have a visa (dont need a visa with a German passport) just got a entrance stamp on arrival at the airport. Want to try again the niext time...

I had problems with the RUT too, I think there is often some confusion when it comes to issuing foreigners RUTs in Chile....

... if Santiago is a no go, you could always try in a different city, or regional office, i.e. Vina del Mar, Valpo, etc.

Well the winter is coming and im just checking flights...there are still many options to escape it ;)

I don't need visa either. Was told to get some kind of document from PDI.
Just waiting in a line - there were over 300 ppl ahead of me!

Sorry for the delayed reply, I haven't been able to get online for a couple of days.
I'm afraid the bike is now sold, I Have just logged on here to remove it or post a notice saying it was sold. If anything changes, I will let you know.
I had no problems getting my RUT, but beware, a RUT is different to a RUN...! The RUT is for companies, and the RUN is for people, but you can't get a RUN with a tourist visa, that is why you have to get a RUT. The RUT is easy to get, but just complicates things a little for selling.
The main problem I had was with registering the bike. I paid the shop to do all the paperwork but I didn't know, and the bike shop didn't tell me, that I also Had to go to Registro civil to show my RUT and do my thumbprint. This caused a four week delay in being able to get my padron and leave for Argentina, as I had to return to Santiago and reregister the bike!

No worries. Good to hear you sold your motorbike. I bought mine today and managed to register it as well :-)

Apparently there are two different RUTs - one for citizens/residents and one for tourists (temporary). For the first one you need to be resident (not on a tourist visa). Or at least that's how I understood what I was told with my close to zero Spanish. For the second one - they refused to register my bike at first but eventually I managed to convinced them otherwise :-) If not, I would probably need to visit a notary, do some more paperwork and wait a few weeks as you described it.
