Where can I buy road maps in Colombia?
 

Hi! This may be an odd question, but where does one buy road maps in Colombia (we are in Cartagena, right now). We had "only" planned on riding from Florida to Panama, so we have only Central American maps. Once in Panama we decided we didn't want the trip to end quite yet, so we boated the bikes to Cartagena. So now we're here without road maps, which we thought we could just buy at any book store - wrong! No maps found so far! Does anybody have any advice??? There's got to be maps somewhere in this city, right?! Please help! Thanks!!

If nothing has changed, you would be able to get detailed maps from the tolls cabins or offices I don´t remember the price but maybe something like 15 usd.

Hello there,

I also had problems finding a good map in Bogota, than somebody told me to ask at the Platypus Hostel in Candelaria - and bingo a good German made road map for all of Colombia for free.

Sorry this wont help you now in Cartagena, but maybe you come thru Bogota. Try the tourist offices in Cartagena, if you havnt done this already.

Sorry about answering without having ever set foot in Colombia, and double sorry if these places are obvious, but in other South Am countries (where I have also spent a lot of time looking for maps), the answers which have worked have been the little newspaper/tobacco kiosks on the streets, petrol stations, and surprisingly, tourist souvenir shops. No idea how helpful this is...Good luck.

There are stores in all the big cities in Colombia which have maps and very good guide books. The stores are called Libreodia Nacional. Check spelling. I have found them in shopping centers.

There are a couple of Libreoda stores in the old part of Cartagena that sell maps of Columbia. There were two different maps available, ranging from $7.00 to. $14.00 us

There is a chain of Book and school supply(libreria) stores called Panamericana. They usually have a great selection of maps. There is one in Barranquilla and many other cities in Colombia.
