Weather and Road Conditions in Bolivia and Peru
While sitting in Argentina waiting for my broken leg to heal, I've seen news on TV about bad weather in Bolivia (heavy rain) and Peru (heavy snow!!). We are hoping to set off again in early April and are planning on heading for these countries.
Has anyone been in the areas of bad weather? If so, which parts of the countries have been affected and what has been the effect on the roads? |
Bolivian rain
Hi, just got back to Boli from Argy and just finding out about this rain stuff, sounds pretty bad. 35 people and 2200 cattle dead mostly in the Beni area. This is the bit that is lowlying eastern part. The only major tourist place that is effected is Rurrenabaque but north of there and out towards Riberata and Guayemerin has got it worse. The ride out to Rurre is pretty tough at the best of times but now forget it I think. I heared a weather forcast that there is going to be more rain to come. We{ve got atleast 1 more month of rainey season to go. I´m not sure whether he´s done it or talking about it but Morales is on about declaring a state of emergency.
I{m in Santa Cruz and it´s hot and sunny. Going to La Paz tomorrow. Should be alright in the highlands but I´ve heared there are a lot of problems in the province of Santa Cruz. Fraser |
