Ways to buy bikes with USA-plates legally from another travelers in Ecuador/Peru

Does somebody know how the bike in Ecuador, which is registered in the United States? Is it possible to make a formal?
I was in a customs office - they say that the tourist who entered with a time resolution can not transfer the ownership of the motorcycle and other tourists to leave the country. If previous owner leave the country without vehicle he we will have problems. And I will have a problem on the border if the temporary import permission have another name on the paper.

Someone buys a motorcycle in Ecuador or Peru with USA-plates? Or seen threads on HU where is discussed? Very interested in the issue of temporary import - whether the problems at the border (for me and for the seller)?

Another question: Is it possible to enter the Peru with the notarial power of attorney on the bike with me, but with a title in the name of the another owner who transmits driving right to me??

Thank you

There are strong indications that Peru is not always going to allow entry with a poder unless the poder has been ratified by the Peruvian embassy in the country where the poder was drawn up. Recent post on a facebook group, plus a post here on the HUBB which even quoted the relevant official Peru document.

Another post on facebook where someone is stuck because Mexico will not accept a poder.

Problem with poders is that they are not an international document. I have only used poders for getting out of the original country, not to get into a second country

Is it good option for changing owner in the title (write new owner in the bottom part) of the USA-registered bike behind the borders?
I mean next: you cross the first border with a previous owner when he is a driver. Then you put to the bottom part of title new owner and cross the next border when driver is you. Does any problem with PIT?

One way to do it is have the seller leave one country and have the buyer enter the next one, or even the same one withthe notorized sale documents or photoshopped ones. At that particular border,, the Colombians just took my bike papers and signed me out without leaving their office to even see if I actually had a bike with me.

Damn, this is a bad news for me. One of our bikes has a POA, signed by a federal police officer of Ushuaia, i never had a problem in Chile, Uruguay, Brasil, Argenitna and even in Paraguay with this POA, but our next destination will be Bolivia and Peru.
Thanks for the post, it seems that i need to go to BsAs, before we will left Paraguay.
